Snake Online is built for thirty-second pickup play and hours-deep mastery. The basics fit on one screen — read once, then it's pure muscle memory. Here's everything you need to go from new player to top 10%.

Hit Play — you're in the arena instantly.
Click Play Free Now. No signup, no install. You'll spawn into a live arena with real players within seconds. Pick a snake skin (free starter ones available) and a region — closer regions mean lower latency.

Steer with your mouse or thumb.
On desktop, your snake's head follows the cursor. On mobile, drag anywhere on screen to steer. The snake never stops moving — your only job is direction. Try wide, smooth arcs rather than sharp turns: you waste less momentum and can react faster.

Eat orbs to grow.
Small glowing orbs scatter the map. Run them over to grow longer and score. Bigger orbs (left by dying snakes) give massive growth — but they're bait. Other snakes always rush them. Pick them up only when you have a clear escape.

Boost burns mass — use it wisely.
Hold left-click (or tap-and-hold on mobile) to boost. You move ~50% faster but lose mass every second. Two real uses: to close a kill (cut in front of a target) and to escape a trap. Never boost just to look fast — it's expensive.

Coil-trap to kill.
You die if any part of your body touches another snake's head. So you don't outrace opponents — you make them ram you. The classic move: boost ahead of a snake, then curl across their forward path. They either crash or boost-burn out of mass to escape.

Survive the perimeter first.
The edge of the arena is the safest place to grow — fewer attackers, predictable boundary you can hug. Stay there until you're top 30%. Mid-map is where champions get sniped by a bored Top 10.

Climb the global leaderboard.
Trophies are awarded for surviving longer, scoring higher, and beating larger snakes. Hourly leaderboards refresh — top 1% gets exclusive skins. Top 3 of any country leaderboard claims the country-flag skin for the next season.
